Your time will make a difference

Volunteers help us to create a better life for everyone. Please note that due to the complex nature of our services we are unable to offer volunteering opportunities to work directly with children. Here are some ways you can help:

Drivers – Mini Bus Van Driver

Do you like to drive? Can you help older people in your community get from A to B? The Totara Club is looking for Drivers who enjoy the company of older people and can help their trips to and from our Club a warm and enjoyable experience. You’ll become part of helping fight loneliness and isolation.

Drivers – Mini Bus Van Assistant

Your face may be the first friendly face they see in the morning. Make someone’s drive to The Totara Club a caring and warm experience. By assisting the Van Driver you will make the clients feel special by supporting them to and from the van and ensuring they are safely transported.

Drivers – Medical Appointment Driver

You will play a valuable role in someone’s life even though it will only be for a short time.  By transporting a person to a medical appointment it will be so appreciated by the individual. If you have good driving skills, this could be your opportunity to make someone’s day a little easier.

Day Programmes – HomeShare

Would you enjoy being involved with activities and games and spending a day with a group of older people.  This experience will give you an opportunity to hear some fascinating stories from people’s past. You will be there as a support and to see others enjoying an amazing day out to which you have contributed.

Day Programmes – Clubs

Come and be part of one of our day programmes.  This experience will give you an opportunity to interact with others and have a fun day out. The clients make friends and share activities the environment is warm and friendly and a positive experience for everyone involved.

Volunteer Visitor

Do you like building relationships and having a good chat? Your social interaction at the clubs will help to reduce the social isolation and loneliness for an older person and is purely a social focus. Why not think of brightening up someone’s day – it will only take an hour a week.
